Chapter 566
Chapter 566:
Weston first exchanged greetings with Amelia, and once their conversation ended his gaze shifted toward Kelsey. At the sight of her composed demeanor, a flicker of approval appeared in his eyes. Since the Chadwick family would one day be entrusted to Shepard, his wife also needed to be responsible and capable — and clearly, Kelsey fit the part flawlessly.
“Good afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. Chadwick. I’m Kelsey Finch. It’s a pleasure to meet you,” Kelsey said warmly, smiling politely.
“You should have introduced Kelsey to us sooner!” Danielle teased, casting Shepard a playful look before stepping forward to clasp Kelsey’s hand. Compared with Amelia, Danielle clearly liked Kelsey, her future daughter-in-law, more. Amelia took it in stride.
After greeting Weston, Amelia turned to Danielle with a courteous smile, which Danielle returned. Once they entered the house, Amelia noticed the living room was already packed. The lavish gifts she had seen at the entrance were only a fraction of what Wyatt had sent.
When everyone had settled on the sofas, Weston turned to Wyatt with a half-serious expression. “You really didn’t need to bring so many gifts p>
Though Weston feigned displeasure, his eyes gleamed with appreciation — among the calligraphy and paintings Wyatt had gifted were several rare pieces he had long admired. Somehow Wyatt had tracked them down and now offered them to him. Danielle smiled kindly at Wyatt as well. “Now that you and Amelia are married, you’re family. There is no need for such formality in the future p>
Wyatt had even thought of Kennedy — who seldom made public appearances — and presented him with a selection of fine wines and cigars.
Wyatt had clearly taken into account the unique tastes of every member of the Chadwick family. He smiled and nodded in response to Weston’s and Danielle’s words.
Not long after, the butler announced that dinner was ready. Danielle linked arms with Kelsey and led her toward the dining room. Seeing his mother’s quick pace, Shepard hurried after them. “Mom, don’t walk so fast—Kelsey’s ankle is still injured p>
“Is it serious? Should I call the family doctor?” Danielle asked, alarmed.
Kelsey shook her head gently. “There’s no need for that; it’s only a sprain. A few days of rest will be enough p>

Reassured by Kelsey’s calm demeanor, Danielle slowed and adjusted her steps. Kelsey let out a quiet breath of relief.
Before Amelia’s return, Weldon had spent most of his time abroad, rarely visiting home because of Brielle. Shepard, meanwhile, was perpetually absorbed in company matters. Because of that, lively family gatherings had become a rarity. Watching the cheerful scene unfold, Weston felt his spirits lift. He instructed the butler to fetch a bottle of good wine to mark the occasion.
Wyatt, mindful of the joyful atmosphere, refrained from doing anything to dampen it and drank with the others. The Chadwick family was known for their tolerance for alcohol, and at first Amelia worried about Wyatt. Her concern eased as she saw him remain steady after several glasses.
As the evening wore on, the conversation around the table grew more harmonious. After the meal they lingered until nearly nine. At last Amelia rose to take her leave. Though reunited with the family, she hadn’t grown close to them yet, so she intended to spend the night at a hotel with Wyatt.
“Why stay in a hotel when you can stay here?” Weston objected firmly. “I’ve had a room prepared for you for some time. You’re family now p>
Ordinarily Weston might have hesitated to press the matter, worried Amelia might take offense, but tonight his tone carried the warmth of welcome rather than formality.
But with the drink warming his veins, courage loosened his restraint, and the words tumbled out with sincerity.
Faced with his earnest expression, Amelia felt it would be rude to decline.
She turned toward Wyatt, seeking his opinion.
Meeting her gaze, Wyatt said softly, “Let’s stay here p>
His words drew approving looks from the men of the Chadwick family. Since Amelia and Wyatt had agreed to stay the night, it was only natural that Kelsey remained as well.
When they returned to the living room, Danielle approached with a gift box in her hands and offered it to Kelsey.
“Kelsey, I wasn’t certain of your preferences, so I prepared a little something for your first visit. I hope you’ll like it,” she said.
Kelsey accepted the box with gratitude, her expression alight with anticipation as she lifted the lid. Nestled inside was a stunning diamond necklace. The design was understated yet refined, clearly chosen with care.
“Thank you, Mrs. Chadwick. I absolutely love it!” Kelsey exclaimed, her face glowing with delight.
Her genuine joy brought a look of satisfaction to Danielle’s features.
A moment later, Danielle revealed a second box and turned to Amelia with the same warmth.
“And this is for you, Amelia p>
Amelia blinked in surprise. “You prepared a gift for me, too p>
Danielle nodded kindly. Under the expectant gaze of the family, Amelia opened the box. Inside lay another diamond necklace—different from Kelsey’s but no less exquisite. Its design carried a quiet sophistication that matched Amelia’s temperament perfectly.
“I wasn’t sure what you would like,” Danielle explained gently, “but when I saw this piece, it reminded me of you. Do you like it p>
