Chapter 580
Chapter 580:
When the hotel manager saw Shepard’s icy gaze, a shiver crawled down his spine.
He felt that his career as the hotel manager might come to an end soon.
Ten minutes later, Seth stormed into the Sunrise Hotel.
Spotting Shepard lounging on the sofa, he scowled and asked,
“What’s going on here p>
“Ask your own employee,” Shepard shot back.
Seth’s gaze shifted to the nearby hotel manager, who, under the weight of Seth’s stare, nervously recounted the previous night’s events.

“Pull up the security footage!” Seth ordered.
“The manager claimed the security cameras accidentally malfunctioned. Mr. Figueroa, was that truly a coincidence?” Shepard said.
Catching the mocking glint in Shepard’s eyes, Seth turned to the manager.
“You have one final opportunity to be honest! Tell me the truth p>
“It was… it was the Russell family!” the manager blurted out under pressure, detailing the previous night’s incident.
After that, he continued,
“Mr. Figueroa, I was clueless until I reviewed the footage this morning. The Russell family runs Simgan, and I didn’t want to bring trouble to the hotel. That’s why I deleted the footage p>
“So, I should be grateful that you did it?” Seth snapped sarcastically.
Before the manager could reply, he added,
“You’re fired p>
The manager, who had toiled for years to earn his position, now saw his efforts unraveling.
Desperate, he pleaded,
“Mr. Figueroa, please, give me one more chance. I can’t lose this job p>
“Leave now, or I’ll have you dragged to the police station,” Seth warned.
Pale and defeated, the manager walked away.
As Shepard left with Weldon and Kelsey, Seth hurried after them.
Blocking their way, he asked Shepard,
“Where are you headed p>
“To confront the Russell family and get my sister and her husband back,” Shepard replied.
“The Russell family crossed both the Chadwick and Stewart families by targeting your sister and Mr. Stewart. Storming in like that won’t make them back down—they might even lash out more harshly p>
“So, Mr. Figueroa, do you have any good suggestions?” Shepard asked.
“If you trust me, I can connect you with someone useful,” Seth said.
In a restaurant in central Simgan,
Shelton surveyed the private dining room’s occupants with puzzlement.
His eyes then landed on Kelsey, a flicker of eagerness in his gaze.
Sensing his stare, Kelsey shot him a look of contempt, but before she could say something, Shepard interjected,
“Keep staring at her, and I might carve out your eyes p>
“How dare you speak to me like that? Do you know who I am?” Shelton snapped.
Though the Barnes family had become powerful only recently, their rapid rise had nearly elevated them to the Russell family’s level of influence.
As the Barnes’ prominence grew, Shelton’s arrogance swelled, and it had been ages since anyone dared talk to him in such a disrespectful manner.
“This is Shepard Chadwick, heir to the Chadwick family in Hans!” Seth quickly said.
At those words, Shelton’s eyes widened, his earlier bravado dissolving instantly.
Hans, near Simgan, was home to powerful families Shelton had only heard of before, so he had hurried over at Seth’s summons.
“Mr. Chadwick, how may I assist you?” Shelton’s tone turned polite as he took a seat across from Shepard.
While his family held sway in Simgan, they were no match for the prestigious Chadwick family.
“I’m here because I need your assistance with a matter,” Shepard said, gesturing for Shelton to come closer.
As Shelton leaned in, Shepard whispered a few words in his ear.
Shelton’s eyes flickered with hesitation after he heard Shepard’s words.
Noticing that, Shepard gave a slight smile.
“Is it too much to ask p>
“Truthfully, I’m engaged to Wendy. Going against her family, Mr. Chadwick, is… why are you all staring at me like that p>
Shelton looked up, catching the strange looks on the others’ faces—especially Weldon’s pitying gaze. He was looking at him as if he were an idiot.
“This Wendy you mentioned— is this her?” Weldon asked, displaying a photo of Wendy on his phone.
Shelton nodded, and Weldon’s expression grew more sympathetic.
“You’re so loyal to the Russell family, but they don’t seem to value you much,” Shepard remarked.
“What is that supposed to mean?” Shelton asked, his brow creasing.
Instead of replying, Shepard nodded to Weldon, who briefly recounted the previous day’s restaurant incident.
“No way that’s true!” Shelton exclaimed.
“We wouldn’t fabricate something this serious,” Weldon said, his pity intensifying.
“So, the Russell family has been making a fool of me this whole time?” Shelton asked, his voice laced with stunned disbelief.
