“Then why are you staring so hard?” he continued, clearly amused. “You’re going to embarrass him p>
Kailey blinked in genuine confusion, her eyes going wide. Can a dog really feel embarrassed?
Kyson laughed when he saw how wide and innocent her expression was, and it only made him want to tease her further. With a small curl of his finger, he gestured toward the yard. “Do you want to touch him p>
Kailey hesitated, uncertainty flickering across her face, then gave a timid nod.
“Then come here,” Kyson said with an easy grin. “I’ll let you pet him p>
But the moment the gate swung open, Kyson let the golden retriever rush forward. The dog leapt straight at Kailey, and she had no time to react. Her small body toppled backward, helpless and shocked.
Fear hit her at once, and tears spilled out as she began to cry.

Aleena hurried over, alarmed—but the moment she saw Kailey crying, her expression softened instead.
“She never cries. This is good. She finally let it out.” She looked at Kyson with quiet gratitude. “Thank you p>
From that day on, Aleena often asked Kyson to bring his dog over, hoping it would keep Kailey company and draw her out of her shell.
For Kailey, however, it only planted a seed of resentment toward Kyson.
As the years passed, she couldn’t even remember when that grudge had faded. Gradually, they grew closer. Later, when Kyson was preparing to leave the country, Kailey went to see him off.
He was tall by then, towering over her easily.
His eyes rested on her as he lifted a hand and gently patted her head. “Grow up soon, little Kailey p>
Kailey refused to let the goodbye turn heavy. She swatted his hand away and gave him a push toward the terminal. “Go already. Your plane is going to take off without you p>
Kyson let out a faint sigh. “If it did, that wouldn’t be so bad p>
“What is that supposed to mean?” Kailey frowned and puffed out her cheeks. “If you missed it, you wouldn’t be able to leave at all p>
“Wouldn’t that actually be better p>
Kailey barely had time to respond before Kyson added, “Don’t forget me, Kailey. You better miss me p>
With that, he turned and walked toward the security gate without once looking back. Kailey stood there, watching his retreating figure long after he had disappeared from sight.
When the massage ended, Nora stepped out rubbing her hands together, her expression grim. “That bruise was awful. Ryan must be out of his mind. You’re hurt like this and he doesn’t even blink, yet he panics over his girlfriend having the tiniest little bump p>
Kailey gave a small shrug. “I suppose that’s how it is. Olivia is the one he cares about now p>
Nora lifted an eyebrow, studying Kailey’s face carefully to make sure she wasn’t concealing pain. Then she said, “Whatever. It doesn’t matter. You have Kyson now. Come on—what do you feel like eating? I’ll take you out p>
