After washing up in the guest bathroom, he returned to his own bedroom and left the lights off. A faint glow filtered through the window and spread across the bed, catching in the woman’s silky hair. One bare foot rested outside the blanket.
He moved closer without making a sound and gently guided her foot back under the covers. His gaze lifted slowly until it settled on her sleeping face.

His gaze lingered on her for a moment longer before he finally turned away and walked toward the study.
Once inside, he turned on the computer. The glow from the screen cast shifting light across his sharply defined features, tracing the lines of his face in alternating brightness and shadow.
