Kailey glanced down, then looked up again after a moment. “You should move.” Realizing how that sounded, she added quietly, “You’re in my way p>
A faint amusement flickered in Kyson’s eyes. He said nothing, turned around, and walked back with the towel still in hand.
Irene had been watching the entire exchange. As soon as Kyson approached, she fixed him with a look of mixed disappointment and frustration. “What are you doing? After wiping her sweat, you should have helped her. Didn’t you see how tired Kailey was p>
“Mom.” Kyson sighed, closing his eyes briefly. “I was the one who asked for the divorce. If I keep pushing myself into her space, she’ll only resent me more p>
Irene fell silent. She lifted her head and met Kyson’s gaze. His eyes were dark, half-hidden beneath the shade of the tree, giving nothing away.
Still, an uneasy thought crept into her chest. Was he actually hurting?

Kailey was still by the grill, chatting with the staff, her mood light and absorbed.
Irene eventually walked over and tugged her away. “You’re not opening a food stall. There’s no need to learn everything so seriously. Just treat it as an experience p>

“Enjoying yourself is fine,” Irene said, pulling out wet wipes and carefully cleaning Kailey’s hands. “But don’t turn it into a habit. Women must learn to take care of themselves. Oil smoke damages the skin more than you think — that’s where premature aging comes from. When life was hard, we endured it. But now that we can afford comfort, we should use it. Let the staff do these things. Or let the men do them. That’s how they prove their worth p>
