Several major projects have stalled without warning.” With a company of that size, delays compounded quickly and losses ran heavy. Problems that looked minor at first, once stacked together, could turn crippling — and once the media began amplifying every piece of bad news, the damage swelled further.
Even so, Kyson’s capabilities made those concerns look far from fatal.
Ease colored Lambert’s posture as if none of it truly worried him. “I can’t track him down either. Relax and stop worrying. If Lyman insists on watching you, let him. He’s not going to hurt you, so squeeze whatever advantage you can from the situation p>
Unease pricked at Kailey as she studied his face, and the feeling refused to fade. Then she realized what it was.

It made sense. Besides, she didn’t have the energy to dwell on it right now.
“Is Kyson not in the country?” she asked.
“No, he isn’t,” Lambert answered. “If you want me to pass along a message, I can handle it p>
“There’s no message.” Calm steadied Kailey’s expression as she stood framed in the afternoon light. “What I need is your help looking into something p>

“My uncle, Lionel Ward, once hired two men to search the mountain my mother left me. Kyson and I paid them off and promised two million if they found the item. I want you to track those men down and find out whether they located anything. It might be something my mother left behind p>

His departure followed the same path as his arrival. He flashed her a quick wave from the window and climbed back down.
Outside the villa, he nearly walked straight into a wandering bodyguard.
Instinct sent Lambert diving behind a large potted plant. He stayed hidden until silence returned, then slipped away. Once he had put enough distance between himself and the villa, he pulled out his phone.
