Kailey walked behind him, her heartbeat picking up with every step. Excitement and nerves tangled together in her chest. When they reached the private room, she realized Kyson hadn’t arrived yet.
“Miss Evans, please have a seat. If you need anything at all, just let us know,” the waiter said before turning to leave.
“Wait,” Kailey called quickly.
He stopped at once. “Is there something else you need, Miss Evans p>
“I need your help with something.” She leaned closer and gave him a few quiet instructions. Only after he nodded in understanding did she step fully into the room and sit down.
She took out her phone and found several messages from Felicity.
“I’ve finally wrapped up my crazy schedule. You owe me dinner, don’t you p>
“I checked — I’m not far from your office. Should I come find you p>

The other side went silent for nearly a full minute. Then a voice message came through. Kailey immediately turned the volume down before playing it.

That still wasn’t the end of it. Felicity took a screenshot of their chat and dropped it straight into their group conversation, calling everyone in to scold her. Almost immediately, messages flooded in — one tag after another aimed at Kailey.
She was just about to reply when she heard footsteps outside the private room. She quickly locked her phone, straightened her posture, and forced herself to sit still.
