The first time he met Benny, the latter had just turned eighteen. Now that he thought back on it, that meeting might not have been as random as it seemed. How could someone who spent nights in bars without supervision avoid real trouble and change so suddenly after a stranger’s warning? If it had been coincidence, then Benny was far too naive. If it wasn’t, the situation ran deeper.
Kyson ran his tongue along the inside of his cheek, his gaze sharpening. After ending the call, he remained where he was until the tension in his chest eased — then headed upstairs.
He showered quickly and returned to the bedroom. Not wanting to wake Kailey, he lay down at a distance. Within seconds, she shifted in her sleep. She rolled toward him without opening her eyes, her hand resting against his chest, settling there as naturally as breathing.
Kyson let out a quiet breath and wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling her closer. Soon after, he closed his eyes.

Kailey glanced at Kyson, waiting for him to speak.
“I’ve already contacted the photographer,” Kyson replied, setting his napkin aside. Even the simplest movement carried a natural composure.

Irene’s eyes lit up. “Are you talking about Lyman p>

Irene grew animated. “I know him. He’s recognized for his photography and has won several international awards — extremely talented. His personality can be unpredictable, but that doesn’t matter. What matters is that he’ll be the one shooting your photos. I can already picture how beautiful the pictures will be p>
