Once Kyson had left, Kailey went to take a shower and carefully dried her hair. The moment she picked up her phone, Devin’s voice echoed from downstairs.

Kailey answered him, changed into fresh clothes, and headed downstairs. By the entrance stood a tall man and a massive dog. Devin kept a firm grip on the Doberman while standing a few steps back. “Mr. Blake sent this over to you. He said you should take it out for a walk p>
Truthfully, Devin couldn’t make sense of it. Even if Kailey had courage, she was still gentle and refined — so why would Kyson send such a huge dog to her?
For a brief second, Kailey froze. Then she locked eyes with the Doberman, and when she tilted her head slightly, the dog copied the same movement.

Devin blinked in surprise. When he realized she wasn’t afraid, he answered, “Max p>
“Max,” Kailey repeated as she accepted the leash from him. “That’s a lovely name. Did Kyson choose it for you?” She lifted her hand and gently stroked Max’s head, and the tall, intimidating Doberman shut its eyes in clear enjoyment.
The sight left Devin speechless. “You’re not scared p>
“I’m fine,” Kailey said with a light laugh, and memories from her childhood suddenly surfaced. Kyson had once frightened her using his dog, and later had even had her share a room with it to help her get past her fear. Just like people, animals responded warmly when they were treated with sincerity. From that time forward, Kailey rarely felt afraid of any animal.
“Max?” She bent down slowly, and crouching beside the Doberman made him look even taller. When he lowered his head toward her, the smile on her face grew brighter. “So you’re officially one of us now, aren’t you p>

Kailey’s spirits lifted at once. She straightened up and turned to Devin. “I’ll handle him. But did you get dog food and a kennel ready p>
“I did!” Devin answered quickly. He was afraid she might start scrolling on her phone and accidentally see the trending scandal — if that happened, Kyson would definitely hold him responsible. Trying to stay calm, he added, “Everything has been arranged. It’ll arrive shortly. For now, you just need to take him out for a walk.” He then stepped aside and shot Max a pointed look.
The responsibility of distracting Kailey now rested entirely on the dog. He silently prayed that Max wouldn’t ruin it.
Max cast him a dismissive glance before walking past him with perfect confidence.
Devin stood frozen for a moment, completely taken aback, then brushed his forehead as though wiping away sweat and hurried off. On his way back to the company, he planned to pick up supplies for the dog first — in his rush to bring Max over, he hadn’t prepared anything properly.
It was only after walking quite a distance that Kailey realized she had forgotten her phone. Otherwise, she could have taken a few photos.
