She turned toward the window. Passing lights blurred into a stream of familiar shapes, and her thoughts drifted. What was Kyson doing at that moment?
The instant they reached the villa, she headed straight for her room. She couldn’t let Lyman discover Kyson’s phone — and even if he already knew about it, she could always play dumb.
Kailey sent Devin a message asking if they had landed, then set the phone down and slipped away to wash up. When she stepped back out, she checked it again.
“We just landed. Mr. Blake left to meet a client. Do you want me to pass anything along to him p>
She stared at the screen. After a long pause, she typed a short reminder telling Kyson to eat properly and rest when he could.
She fell back onto the bed and fixed her eyes on the ceiling. Weariness slipped out in a long, slow breath. Nothing concrete had gone wrong — and yet disorder pressed in from every side. It felt like standing in the middle of secrets no one bothered to explain. Protection might have been their intention, but silence had built a wall around her, and that felt absolutely terrible.
Exhaustion eventually pulled her under, and sleep came tangled with dreams she couldn’t recall.
Dull heaviness clung to Kailey’s head when she woke, and she sat there in a haze for a long while.

“Kailey, good morning.” She pressed a bouquet into Kailey’s hands, her eyes wandering the room with obvious intent.
Kailey smiled warmly. “Thank you for the flowers. Stay and have lunch with me. Lyman should be back soon p>
“Would that really be alright?” The words were modest, but Jessica was more than willing to stay. She settled onto the couch, opened her bag, and held up a carefully wrapped gift. “I even picked something out for him. Do you think he’ll like it p>

“If you already know you’re bothering me, then leave. Go back where you came from,” Lyman replied.
