Kailey didn’t see his struggle. She had already gone upstairs.

Two project managers were stepping out of Kyson’s office as she approached. They greeted her respectfully, and she returned the greeting with a smile before waiting until they left to enter.

“Alright. They’re my favorites,” Kailey admitted with a laugh.
He took the box from her and guided her to the coffee table. One by one, he opened the containers, his voice softening. “Still, you’re right. We do like the same things p>
“Really?” Her eyes lit up at once. “Then I should bring you lunch every day. I’m not too busy lately, so it’s the perfect chance p>
He looked at her with interest. “The perfect chance for what p>
“Perfect for making sure you don’t find another woman.” She puffed out her cheeks. “If I see you getting too close to someone else, I won’t go easy on you p>
A soft laugh slipped out of Kyson. “What are you trying to say p>
“People keep saying men cannot be trusted,” Kailey answered, a careless shrug following her words. She lifted her fork and hooked a slice of beef, tucking it into her mouth while her cheeks rounded as she chewed. “You’ve treated me well until now. But who can promise it’s not just a performance p>
Kyson sighed. “In that case, you can keep watching me as much as you want. I honestly don’t mind p>
Kailey’s gaze rose to meet his, and a quiet smile replaced any reply.
After lunch, Kyson planned to drive Kailey home, but Devin arrived to inform him of an upcoming international meeting. All Kyson could do was walk her to the elevator.
