Kailey caught the movement of his throat as he swallowed, and heat rushed to her cheeks. She hurriedly shoved the lingerie back into the bag. “Nora has to be messing with us.” They hadn’t even crossed that line yet, and this felt like far too much.
Standing awkwardly at the door was unbearable, so Kailey walked in first — only to freeze once more at what greeted her.
Kyson steadied himself and followed, stopping when he saw her rooted to the spot.

She stiffened in shock.
Kyson lightly tapped her nose, his smile helpless. “They never do things halfway. Let’s stay the night. Go shower first. I’ll take care of this, alright p>
With no reason to argue, Kailey grabbed a clean towel and robe and quickly disappeared into the bathroom.

Silence followed — yet elsewhere, his friends were already clutching their phones in dread.
Kyson glanced once more at the bed, then swept the rose petals onto the floor in one long motion. He opened a cabinet, took out a clean blanket, and swapped it out. The decorative ribbons were removed next. After he turned the lights up brighter, the room finally resembled something livable.
Just then, the bathroom door opened.
Kailey stepped out in her robe, hair bundled in a towel atop her head. Fresh-faced and bare, she looked quietly captivating.
