Kailey shook her head and walked out in a daze.
Payment finished quickly, and the group swept out of the store with an air that pushed others instinctively aside.

Kailey turned around. Her eyes burned with a fury that felt almost violent, as if she meant to tear him apart.
“Stay out of it.” She tried twice to wrench her arm free and failed, so she stopped fighting and let his grip remain. “Lyman, did you and Candice meet at the same clinic? See the same psychiatrist p>
The idea satisfied her in a bitter way. Both of them acted unhinged. Both were self-righteous fools.

Outside scenery blurred past while Kailey stared through the glass, her hand lifting and lowering the window without purpose. Cold air rushed in and tossed her hair into chaos.
Upon arriving at the villa, she stayed seated instead of stepping out, and Lyman remained still beside her.
