With that, he turned toward the kitchen and began clearing the table. From where she sat, Kailey watched his straight posture and broad shoulders and quietly counted his qualities one by one.
Good-looking, witty, considerate, patient, and he even cooked well. With someone like that right in front of her, it was hard to imagine anyone not falling for him.
Fortunately, she had only just let go of Ryan and was still keeping her emotions at a careful distance. Otherwise, resisting Kyson might have been nearly impossible.
What Kyson didn’t realize was that Kailey had already placed him firmly behind an invisible boundary.

Attempting to cook herself was not something she planned to revisit anytime soon.
Several days passed, and Ryan never reached out once.
Relief settled quietly inside her, and she came close to forgetting he existed at all.
Sunday arrived along with the property management’s gathering.
Kailey chose a clean white dress, kept her makeup light, and made her way to the restaurant. Even knowing the neighborhood catered to wealthy residents, the venue still left an impression. Applause followed. Kailey smiled politely while feeling slightly out of her element. Hannah guided her to a seat beside a woman who clearly came from considerable wealth.
