“What’s on your mind?” Kyson asked when he noticed her drifting thoughts. His thumb brushed gently along her cheek. “I won’t always be able to stay by your side. Don’t let that bother you, alright?” His schedule was packed—he had to clear meetings and responsibilities so he could make time for their wedding.
“Why would that bother me?” Kailey pushed aside her wandering thoughts and caught his hand. His fingers were long and refined, the skin smooth, faint veins running along the back of his hand and hinting at the strength beneath.

A cold chuckle came from the other end. “If you doubt my work, you shouldn’t have hired me. I’ve checked every lead regarding the Evans family in Jucridge. There’s no link between them and Merritt. What did he do to make you go this far p>
