Irene asked no questions. She entered a number, saved it under her own name, and handed the phone back. “Alright. Go home and rest. I’ll call you tomorrow.” She drove herself, sparing Kailey from having to see her off.
As Irene’s slim figure disappeared into the distance, her expression shifted. She took out her phone and dialed a number.
“Hello p>
A deep male voice came through — and it set her off instantly.
“That’s all you can say?” Irene exploded. “Where are you? I’m coming to find you right now p>
Though Irene was direct by nature, she had never spoken to her son quite like this. She knew better than anyone how stubborn Kyson could be once he had made up his mind. But this was different. Treating marriage like a joke was unforgivable.

After a brief silence, Kyson gave her an address.
Irene ended the call, got into her car, set the navigation, and slammed the accelerator. Anger boiled inside her so violently she felt ready to burst.
Half an hour later, she arrived.
Without caring whether she had parked properly, she got out and stormed inside. Her fury was so palpable that the receptionist dared not stop her. Recognizing who she was, they could only trail behind anxiously.
“Kyson, get out here!” After the outburst, Irene realized the setting was inappropriate. She turned back and softened her voice. “I need to deal with some family matters. You can go back to work, alright p>
“Yes, ma’am p>
The receptionist fled gratefully.
Irene swept her gaze across the floor. Those who had been ready to watch the spectacle immediately pretended to be busy.
Fine. At least here, she would give him some dignity.
She took a few deep breaths, straightened herself, and walked into the office with composed grace, pulling the door shut behind her.
Only then did she turn, stride forward, and slam her handbag onto the desk. “What on earth are you doing? I thought you had finally learned how to handle a relationship. Even if there were problems, I believed you would deal with them properly. But what is this? Are you trying to cram every relationship you missed in the first half of your life into the second p>

“Don’t interfere?” Irene’s temper flared again, her tone turning icy. “If I interfere any less, you’ll destroy everything. I don’t understand you, Kyson. What exactly do you want? You must cancel the engagement to Candice. I do not agree p>
Kyson answered quietly, “The date is already fixed p>
“So what if it’s fixed? You announced it on a whim — you can cancel it just as easily!” There was no trace of humor in her voice. “I’m not asking your opinion. I’m telling you. If you won’t do it, I will. I want to see whether you’re willing to cut off your own mother for that woman p>
