Pressing her lips together, Dana swallowed the bitterness rising inside her.
No matter what she had built for herself overseas, she was still just an ordinary person, and she understood all too well what happened when someone crossed capital.
That afternoon, a message from Dana appeared on Kailey’s phone, written in a tone of forced civility. Between the polished lines, Dana attributed everything from the night before to an unfortunate accident and proposed meeting in person to offer a proper apology.
