Once they were inside, silence followed. Daniel checked the mirror — fury still stormed across Kailey’s face. He looked forward and said, “Miss Lawson just enjoys her pranks. Please don’t let it get under your skin p>
“So this was just to upset me?” Kailey asked.

Daniel worked for Candice. Even if he didn’t join her in making things difficult for Kailey, he still didn’t need to spell things out in such detail.
Yet there was a trace of respect in his attitude that didn’t belong there. That caught Kailey off guard.

When she stepped back into the villa, the lights in the living room were still glowing. Karol hummed softly to herself, and that simple sound warmed the space. The tightness in Kailey’s chest eased the moment she crossed the threshold.
“Kailey, you’re back.” Karol gestured toward the stairs. “Kyson just got home too p>
Surprise crossed Kailey’s face. “He’s back p>
“Yes. You didn’t know? You’ve been apart for days, so I’m sure you’ve got plenty to talk about. Go and find him p>
Only then did Kailey pull out her phone. The screen showed missed calls and unread messages — she had been so caught up in her thoughts that she hadn’t noticed any of them. “Karol, I’m going upstairs p>

Upstairs in the study, Kyson had already changed into light gray loungewear. He rested against the desk, relaxed, while warm yellow light filled the room and traced the lines of his figure, the glow from his phone lit up his face.
He had just finished listening to a work report when someone knocked on the door. He turned toward the sound.
