“Fine.” The smile disappeared from her face. Her eyes were calm and unreadable. “Make the arrangements. I’ll go abroad. Not just to get away from Kyson — more importantly, I never want to see you again.” She forced out the last words slowly. Then she turned and walked away.
Max scrambled after her, afraid she might leave him behind.

Her way of cheering someone up always involved noise and bright lights.
The four bodyguards trailed behind, barely keeping up.
Kailey didn’t resist. She felt a growing urge to drown everything out with alcohol.
At the bar, Felicity ordered a line of expensive drinks. Kailey hadn’t drunk much in recent months, and the alcohol hit her quickly. Her head began to spin. As she scanned the room, she noticed the bodyguards had shifted their attention to the performance on stage.
A faint, cold smile crossed her lips. She rose unsteadily and headed toward the restroom.
The hallway was crowded. Couples clung to each other, and several drunk men whistled as she passed. She frowned and covered her mouth, walking faster.
When she finally reached the restroom, she tried to throw up but nothing came. She gripped the edge of the sink and steadied herself. The dizziness grew worse, and discomfort spread through her body.

Her body hurt. Her heart hurt even more.

Someone had come in and closed the door.
