Kyson didn’t have much of an appetite at night anyway. He took the plate back to the kitchen, cleaned up, and returned a few minutes later. Kailey was still sitting at the dining table.
“Why didn’t you go up?” he asked.

Kailey put her phone away and walked over, looping her arms through his. Her mood looked bright and easy.
She was definitely not going to admit she had just snapped a photo of him from a perfect angle. He looked like a high-end model straight out of a glossy advertisement.
Kyson studied her for a second, clearly suspicious, then asked, “That young guy you picked up today — do you still have to deal with him p>
“How did you know?” The mention of that name wiped the smile right off her face. “Quentin won’t be back for two days. That means I’m stuck watching him until then p>
Kyson answered casually, “I don’t have much planned tomorrow. I’ll go with you p>
Her face lit up at once. “That’s perfect!” If Dagmar was scared of Kyson, then Benny probably was too.
Kailey had planned to let Benny stew for half a day. She figured she’d deal with him after finishing her work.
She didn’t expect him to show up on his own.
He had somehow found her office. On second thought, Quentin had probably told him.
Standing by the elevator, Kailey spotted the figure lounging in the waiting area like he ran the place, slouched without a care. She moved toward him, taking slow, steady steps.
He didn’t react. Not even when her shadow fell over him.

Benny lifted his eyes for a split second, glanced at her, then dropped his gaze back to the phone in his hands.
Something in her chest snapped. Without thinking, she leaned forward and yanked the phone out of his grip. “I’m talking to you. Are you pretending you can’t hear me p>
For a moment, it looked like Benny might explode. But when he saw her standing there with her lips pressed tight in irritation, he suddenly laughed. He leaned back into the couch and folded his arms across his chest. “Alright. Go on p>
Kailey studied him for a few seconds before asking, “Why are you here p>

“I’m working.” Kailey shoved the phone back at him. “Go back to the hotel. If you’re hungry, order food. If you feel sick, see a doctor. Don’t come to me unless something serious happens p>
She turned on her heel and headed toward her office. Footsteps followed.
