Lionel was caught off guard by Kailey’s serious tone, then gave an awkward laugh. “Alright, I understand. It really was a coincidence that day, Kailey. Don’t dwell on it p>
It didn’t matter whether she was overthinking. Kailey simply wanted to make sure nothing like that happened again.
Just then, Zaria leaned out of the office doorway and waved her over.
Kailey held up a finger, signaling she needed a minute to finish her call.
“Uncle, was there something else? If not, I need to get back to work p>
“There actually is,” Lionel insisted, jumping in before she could hang up. “Kailey, the legal documents are all set. When do you want me to show you the mountain your mom left behind p>
For a second, Kailey forgot to breathe, tension sweeping through her.

She bit her lip, her thoughts darkening. “I might need to rearrange some work first. Can I get in touch when I’m free p>
“Of course!” Lionel’s cheer returned. “There’s no rush. It’s yours. I’m just keeping an eye on it for now p>
Kailey stayed quiet, cited work as a reason to end the call, and hung up. She stared at the phone for a couple of seconds, her face giving nothing away.
“Kailey!” Zaria called again, prompting her to set the phone aside and step into the office. “What’s up p>
“Nothing urgent.” Zaria slid a stack of documents her way, eyebrow raised. “Here’s the pure white-pink you asked for. We pulled every sample we could find, but honestly, none of these seem to match what you’re describing p>
Kailey flipped through the papers, reviewing them in silence.
“But I’ve got to ask —” Zaria gave her a long look, as if studying a rare specimen. “Pure white-pink? Where did you even get that idea? White is white, pink is pink. Can you really have all three at once p>
Kailey finished scanning the documents, braced her arms on the desk, and thought for a moment.
“Why not?” She turned and met Zaria’s eyes. Today she wore her hair swept up, leaving her delicate features fully visible and making her eyes shine even brighter. “What do you think? Could we track down the country’s best pigment expert and ask for a custom shade p>
Zaria considered it for a second. “It’s possible, but the cost would be enormous p>
“Then we’ll try to find it ourselves p>
Zaria gave her a puzzled look. “What exactly are we looking for p>

Zaria didn’t quite understand. With Kailey’s connection to Kyson, Fantasy Fusion might as well be hers. If the budget wasn’t enough, why not simply ask for more? Why go through all this effort just for a color?
“I don’t mind using connections when it makes sense, but I want to try this on my own first. I’ve never attempted something like this, and I’d rather not take shortcuts.” Kailey spoke calmly, almost as if she could read Zaria’s mind. Even though Kyson owned Fantasy Fusion, she wouldn’t rush to spend beyond the planned budget.
Kailey dove into deep research at once, but came up empty-handed.
