I’ll look after your wife.” Levity slipped back into his voice. “Maybe she’ll walk away from both you and Lyman in the end and choose me instead. I’d change for her without hesitation p>

Before Kyson could say another word, Lambert quickly hung up.
Kyson lowered the phone and let his gaze drift down toward his injured leg.
Heavy bandages lay hidden beneath his pant leg, wrapped tightly around his thigh where flesh had nearly been carved away.
Five days ago, he had been ambushed by a group of trained individuals as he left the company. Despite his skills, he was outnumbered and they were armed. A swift cut landed squarely on his thigh. Before they left, they warned him to stay away from Kailey.
