The moment she stepped out of the office, Zaria leaned in and whispered, “How did it go? Was everything alright p>
“Should be fine,” Kailey replied with a small smile. “She said she needs to settle on the spring theme first before moving forward with my designs p>
Zaria gave a quiet hum in response, sensing something was off but unable to pinpoint exactly what.
Back inside her office, Dana continued reviewing the sketches. The longer she studied them, the more impressed she became—and the more reluctant she was to admit it. They were undeniably good. But a nagging question persisted: could these really be Kailey’s own work? How could someone with so little real-world experience produce designs like these? If it were true, her talent would be exceptional.
The more Dana turned it over in her mind, the harder it was to believe.
A different thought surfaced. If the designs weren’t truly Kailey’s, using them herself would be simple enough. Kailey was young and just starting out. Even if she discovered the truth, she wouldn’t dare confront anyone.
With that decided, Dana carried the sketches directly to Linda’s office.

Keeping her expression composed, Dana answered, “I drew them a few years ago while I was overseas. I came across them today and thought they might still be useful p>
A soft laugh escaped Linda. “They don’t really resemble your usual style p>
“That was a long time ago. It’s natural for the style to be different,” Dana replied evenly. “What do you think of them p>
Linda gathered the pages neatly and gave an approving nod. “These are strong. I think this style will appeal to the boss. Leave them here—I’ll present them to him first and decide from there p>
Satisfaction moved through Dana. “Thank you p>
Since joining the company, she had never met the boss in person. Rumors painted him as a striking man, and if these designs earned his approval, she could make a favorable impression without much effort—all built on Kailey’s work.
Entirely unaware of what was unfolding, Kailey spent that evening having dinner with Kyson before hurrying home. Between work and preparing for her graduate exams, her schedule was relentlessly packed. With only two months remaining, she knew she had to push herself harder than ever, however confident she felt.
Late that night, Kyson headed out once more. When he returned, he found Kailey slumped over her desk, a pen still clasped loosely in her fingers, her cheek resting softly against the surface.
A quiet sigh left him. Tenderness settled in his chest as he reached for the blanket on the couch and draped it gently over her shoulders.
