After several days in Aslesall, Kailey had already settled into a comfortable routine. Each morning, she would pull the curtains aside to check whether the snow in the yard had begun to melt—and then close them again with a faint smile.
Once she finished getting ready, she headed downstairs to find Kyson still busy in the kitchen.
Moving on tiptoe, she tried to sneak up on him—but he turned around at exactly the right moment, spatula frozen mid-motion.

Milk had never been her favorite, yet ever since moving in with Kyson, she found herself finishing it every single time. The realization often made her suspicious, as though he had secretly added something to it.
