That response earned her a sharp look from Dagmar. She turned her head away and yanked a cushion into her arms, hugging it tightly. “Anyway, you seriously need to think this through. You can’t decide to get married just because someone hurt you. That kind of decision won’t fix anything p>
Resting her chin in her hand, Kailey considered it carefully before answering. “I agree with you, but only to a point. A lot of relationships might end the same way, and marriage might not carry much meaning on its own. Still, those aren’t good reasons to stop ourselves from choosing. If you want marriage, then choose it. If you want a relationship, then choose that. What really matters is how you feel inside — not whether someone else completes you. And if it falls apart one day, you can always walk away then p>

“Is he really worth all that p>
After a brief pause, Kailey replied, “He’s decent overall. And even that level of decency makes me want to try building a life with him.” She had never been the type to get lost in endless doubts, and she refused to deny herself happiness because of Ryan. If choosing a partner depended on the right time, the right place, and the right person, then Kyson fit perfectly.
For a moment, Dagmar could not find the right words. She stared at Kailey with an odd expression before pushing herself to her feet with a snort. “Like I care about you. Just don’t come crying to me when you get hurt. Where’s my room? I’m exhausted p>
“Okay, come with me.” Kailey guided Dagmar to the guest room right next to her own bedroom. “If there’s anything you need, just let me know p>
“Stop talking already!” Dagmar snapped, rolling her eyes before slamming the door shut.
Kailey rubbed the bridge of her nose and went back to her room.
Not long after, Lionel’s voice came through the phone. “Kailey, has Dagmar gone to sleep p>
“She’s probably settling in for the night. Uncle Lionel, you don’t need to worry p>
“With you there, of course we’re at ease. Still, she’s been quite rebellious lately, and she might give you a hard time p>
The comment made Kailey uncomfortable, but she answered anyway. “If you want to get along better with Dagmar, you should try understanding what she’s thinking. Constantly scolding her won’t solve anything p>
