“I’m sorry, Aleena. I tried calling Ryan several times today, but I couldn’t reach him. I was so eager to visit that I forgot to bring anything with me. Maybe it’s better if I stay at a hotel p>
Aleena immediately felt uncomfortable at the thought and waved her hand quickly. “There’s no need for that. I’ll ask the maid to get a room ready. Ryan should be back soon. If he hears you came all this way and left, he’ll only worry p>
Olivia declined a few times out of courtesy before finally agreeing, as if persuaded against her will.
Once everything was arranged and Olivia was shown to her room, Aleena returned to her own.
The villa, despite its size, felt strangely empty.
By the window, Olivia stood in silence, her fingertips drumming lightly against the frame while she stared into the distance. She didn’t even notice the faint scratches her nails were leaving on the wood.
She knew the villa across the street belonged to Kailey’s husband. Was Ryan there right now?
Olivia had expected to find Ryan somewhere around Kyson’s villa, yet after walking the entire perimeter, she saw no sign of him at all.
She tried calling him, but the call went unanswered.

“Ryan, answer the phone!” she snapped through clenched teeth, anger rising as she dialed again and again. For a brief moment, she almost hurled the phone to the ground, but she forced herself to stop, remembering the position she was in.
In the end, she slowly lowered herself to the ground and covered her face with both hands.
Before long, faint laughter and easy conversation floated toward her.
Walking side by side with their fingers intertwined, Kailey and Kyson moved through the garden in matching pajamas of coordinated shades, looking completely relaxed and undeniably in sync.
“Did you check the gifts your mother chose for the guests?” Kailey asked with a hint of amusement. “Each one consists of souvenirs from different countries. I have no idea how she even thought of that p>
“Don’t like them?” Kyson glanced her way, his gaze soft. “We can choose something else if you don’t p>
“How could I dislike them? She clearly spent time thinking about it. Besides, they’re meant for guests—shouldn’t they reflect different cultures?” There was a teasing tone in her smile. She might not have realized it, but to Kyson, it was completely captivating.
He inclined his head slightly and lifted her hand, pressing a gentle kiss against her knuckles. “No matter what it is, it’s already perfect, because it comes from you.” The warmth in his low voice brushed past her ear and stirred something subtle in her heart.
Instead of answering, she simply smiled. Kyson didn’t continue the conversation either.
They hadn’t intended to step outside, but when they reached the entrance, they noticed someone crouched just beyond the gate. The woman’s hair hung loosely and messily around her shoulders. She had her arms wrapped tightly around her bent knees, and her reddened eyes glowed with a fierce intensity. At a careless glance, anyone walking past might have been unsettled by her presence.
