Though the full truth escaped him, Rayden could sense there had been some kind of history between Kailey and Lyman. Having delivered their final bit of unsolicited wisdom, Lambert and Rayden slipped out together.
Stillness swallowed the room the moment the door clicked shut. Lyman reclined against the couch while the restless club lights shimmered across his eyes, weaving shifting bands of shadow that made his gaze seem even more distant and impenetrable.
Seeing Lyman again that night stirred up old memories, and Kailey found herself slipping into the same childhood dreams over and over.
