Benny’s last words were so soft that Kailey didn’t catch them, but Kyson did. He turned the wheel and pulled the car over to the side of the road.

“Get out.” His tone was flat, without a hint of emotion.
Benny didn’t respond. He stayed seated and refused to move.
“You haven’t changed at all. You still don’t understand basic respect. If that’s the case, there’s no reason for you to keep coming to see me.” Kyson’s face looked calm, but there was no warmth in it.
Benny opened his mouth as if he wanted to argue. After a brief pause, he unlocked his phone and shoved it forward.
“Look at this and tell me I’m wrong. She was standing that close to another man right outside her office. If she acts like this in public, who knows what she does in private? Don’t be fooled by that sweet, innocent act p>
The screen showed a clear photo of Kailey and Lyman. He was placing his coat over her shoulders, and the angle made it look intimate.
Kailey stared at the image in disbelief. “You took a candid shot of me p>
“I’m just collecting proof,” Benny retorted. “Go ahead and deny it. If you behave like that where everyone can see, what happens when no one’s around p>
Kailey turned to look at him. He met her gaze without flinching. There was defiance in his eyes — arrogance, and a trace of spite that didn’t bother to hide itself.
Some people seemed to have a talent for stirring up trouble. She hadn’t even known him long, yet he had already managed to irritate her every single time they crossed paths. Three encounters, and each one ended badly. When she thought about it, there wasn’t a single pleasant memory tied to him.
Kailey studied him carefully. On the surface, he seemed direct and easy to read. Yet somehow, he was harder to figure out than Kyson.
In the driver’s seat, Kyson’s eyes darkened for a brief second when he saw the photo. Then his expression returned to its usual calm, as though the image meant nothing.
Benny frowned at that reaction. “You’re just going to let it slide p>
“This is between me and Kailey.” Kyson shot Benny a warning look. “If you’re coming to dinner, sit quietly and stop stirring things up. Otherwise, I won’t just keep you away from her — I’ll send you straight back to where you came from p>
Kyson started the engine again. The air inside the car turned heavy, and no one spoke.
