Kailey let out a long breath and nodded. “Karol, why do men make things so complicated? I know he wants me to make it up to him when he’s annoyed, but how am I supposed to guess what that means? Am I supposed to read his mind p>
“Isn’t it obvious? Most men don’t have that many things on their minds.” Karol smiled in a way that said she already had the answer.
The meaning behind her expression hit Kailey at once, and she leaned back instinctively. Was he hinting at that? She wasn’t sure. As soon as she got back to her room, she sent Felicity a message.

After the exchange ended, Kailey dropped onto the bed and sighed. Kyson had never seemed difficult to deal with before. She could only hope Felicity’s idea would help.
The rest of the day passed quietly. Kailey stayed home and played with their dog. As evening approached and it was almost time for Kyson to finish work, she got dressed to go pick him up.

When Kailey arrived, the sun was still hanging low in the sky. She recognized two Blake Group cars parked near the entrance, and a sleek sports car stood nearby as well. Without thinking much about it, she walked in.
The site was under development — they were planning to build a large amusement park along with a hotel along the slope. Sand and gravel covered the ground, and workers moved around the area, busy with construction.
