Kailey didn’t even know how she ended up walking into the building, still holding two men’s shopping bags in her hands. Candice carried even more, talking nonstop as they walked side by side.

They stepped into the elevator together. As the doors slid shut, their reflections overlapped in the mirror — the image looked strange, almost unsettling.

Color drained slightly from Kailey’s face. Of course she knew. No serious business decision happened without investigation — Candice couldn’t possibly be unaware that Kyson was the real power behind Fantasy Fusion.

Devin had just walked out of the meeting room when he froze mid-step. What was this situation? Kailey and Candice together? His mind went blank for a second. Still, he forced himself to step forward and greet them.

Devin glanced at Kailey, and the quiet hurt in her eyes made his stomach drop. This was bad. Whenever she was upset, he suffered for it — and if Kyson misunderstood this scene, he would suffer twice. He forced a stiff smile. “Mr. Blake hasn’t arrived yet. If you’d like to leave the items, I can pass them along p>
“I brought them to give to him in person,” Candice replied lightly, lifting the bags. “See? They’re all for him. He once said I never gave him anything, so I’m making up for it now p>
Devin felt a chill crawl up his back. He glanced at Kailey again. It looked like not only was he doomed — maybe his boss was, too.
