Kyson gave a slight shake of his head and walked to the window. More guards had gathered outside — Lyman hadn’t been bluffing. Knowing what Kyson was capable of, he had clearly arranged men who were prepared for him.

With him beside her, the tension that had gripped Kailey finally loosened.
That night, she slept soundly. When she stirred awake, she felt the warmth of someone next to her, and relief filled her chest.
She opened her eyes and saw Kyson lying there with one arm tucked behind his head, looking completely at ease, as if this were their own bedroom. Propping herself up on one elbow, she asked, “Are we seriously just going to stay here like this?” A small frown appeared on her face — they were in Lyman’s house, after all.
Kyson reached over and smoothed a hand over the back of her head. “Are you still scared p>
“Not when you’re here.” She shook her head. “It just feels strange p>
At first, she had been certain Lyman meant to hurt her. But now that Kyson had shown up, Lyman hadn’t made another move — he simply let them remain. The more she thought about it, the less she understood him.
Kyson kept his eyes on the ceiling, his expression thoughtful. “He’s always been like that. Even when we were kids, no one could ever figure him out.” Still, Kyson was certain of one thing — Lyman wouldn’t harm Kailey.

She thought it over with a straight face. “I want lobster. And king crab. Make sure they’re fresh — frozen won’t taste right p>
The guard hesitated for a second before answering respectfully, “Those ingredients may take some time to prepare p>
Kyson didn’t blink. “That’s fine. We’re not in a rush p>
Lyman had already given orders to meet their requests, so the guard had no choice but to nod and step away.
Not long after, clean clothes were delivered. Kyson showered first, and once he was done, he brought Kailey outside for a walk in the garden.
They could move around freely, just as before, but leaving the property wasn’t an option. Two guards stood at the gates, and others were positioned out of sight. Kyson took it all in at a glance — Lyman had clearly arranged extra security with him in mind. A faint, amused curve touched his lips.
While he was studying the environment, Kailey was doing the same. The villa felt sealed tight, like nothing could slip in or out without being noticed.
