“Don’t think about it too much. Treat this like a date — we don’t get time like this very often.” Kyson lifted her hand and brushed his lips against it.
That was true.
After a short pause, Kailey looked at him. “If you wanted to leave, he wouldn’t stop you. He’s only keeping me here.” She didn’t understand Lyman’s reason, but she was certain there was one.
“How could I leave you here by yourself and feel at ease?” Kyson retorted. “If he wants to play at locking us in, then we’ll stay. And we’ll make sure he regrets it p>
Kyson and Kailey soon settled into life at Lyman’s villa. Compared to their own place, everything felt lighter and easier.
No one took away Kyson’s phone. At his request, Devin even brought his laptop over.
He continued handling company matters as though nothing had changed. Out on the balcony, a bodyguard had set up a lounge chair, and Kyson worked at the small table while Kailey rested beside him, soaking up the sun. She wore the loungewear Devin had packed from their house. If not for the guards stationed nearby, it would have felt like nothing more than a short getaway.
“I haven’t shown up at the office for days. You’re not planning to fire me, are you?” While playing a game on her phone, she paused and glanced up at him before looking back at the screen. “I still don’t understand this. He lets you bring whatever you want over here, so why won’t he just let us leave p>
She was talking about Lyman. Since Kyson had arrived, he hadn’t appeared again.

Kyson kept his attention on the project proposal in front of him. The sunlight hit his back, and his shadow fell across her face, shielding her eyes from the glare.
“We’ll find out soon,” he said quietly.
After a full week at the villa, Kyson finally had to leave. There was trouble with a project in Ustuijan. He didn’t go into details, but she could tell from his expression that it was serious.
He ended his call and stepped back inside. She walked straight to him and slipped her arms around his waist. “Don’t stress about me. Lyman isn’t coming back. I’m fine here p>

He could have pushed harder and taken her with him, but after the call he had just received, that wasn’t the safest move. Kyson’s gaze darkened. Staying here was probably better for now. At least the trained guards would keep her safe.
They stood there holding each other in silence. When it was time, she walked him downstairs.
