You wouldn’t dare touch me.” She spoke with a smile, as if she believed every word.
In the next instant, Kyson’s hand closed around her throat.
His jaw tightened. A dark edge flashed across his face. He lifted her slightly until her feet barely touched the ground, the pressure cutting off her air. “Wouldn’t dare?” he said coldly. “You’re wrong. Slapping you wouldn’t satisfy me. I wish you were gone p>
Candice clawed at his wrist, her body reacting on instinct.
After a few seconds, he released her.
She bent forward, coughing violently until she could breathe again. Her eyes reddened, and her face flushed deeply.

His eyes looked bottomless, as if something violent stirred inside them. He stared straight ahead, fixing his gaze on the woman in front of him for a long moment. Then he turned away and got into the car.
The door slammed shut with a harsh bang.
