She nodded seriously. His scent surrounded her, warm and familiar. She breathed it in without thinking. Never had she felt so secure before.
After sitting there a while longer, they finally stepped out of the car.
Since they were already home, they decided to cook dinner themselves. Karol hadn’t expected them back, so she wasn’t around to help.
Kyson tied an apron around his waist with easy confidence. He opened the refrigerator, took out ingredients, and arranged them neatly across the counter. There was nothing flashy about it, yet Kailey couldn’t look away.
She leaned against the doorway and took a bite of a pear, watching him.
A thought suddenly surfaced. “Candice bought you a bunch of clothes. How does she know your size p>
It was an offhand question, but it stirred up a flood of unpleasant memories. Kyson replied, “She once stole my clothes p>

Kailey stared at him in disbelief.
He nodded once. “She’s mentally ill. When it flares up, she fixates on things. Medication keeps it stable most of the time.” Most of the time. Not always.
Kailey blinked. “So she’s basically like an obsessive fan p>
“Yes,” Kyson said simply, without going into detail. “So don’t approach her on your own. If anything feels strange, call me. Or call the police p>
Kailey nodded, though she thought it sounded a bit unrealistic. Candice was working with both Blake Group and Fantasy Fusion — she would remain in their lives for a long time. After all, they couldn’t simply stop working with her, could they?
While Kailey thought so, Kyson was actually considering doing exactly that.
Later that afternoon at Fantasy Fusion, she noticed him following her toward the elevator. “Do you have something to handle?” she asked.
“A meeting.” He adjusted his cuffs calmly. “And I’ve asked finance to calculate the penalty for ending the contract p>
“Ending the contract? With Candice?” Kailey asked in surprise.
Kyson turned to look at her. “We both know her intentions aren’t clean. Dragging this out won’t benefit us. It’s better to stop it early.” Candice had set her sights on Kailey, and with her unstable tendencies, no one could predict her next move.
“But even if we terminate the contract, do you really think that’ll stop her?” Kailey shook her head. “If she wants to cause trouble, she’ll find a way. We haven’t done anything wrong. There’s no reason to cancel the collaboration.” In fact, keeping the collaboration might allow them to observe her more closely — without it, they’d lose visibility entirely.
Kyson looked at her steady expression for a long moment. The firmness in his face eased slightly.
The elevator doors opened with a soft chime. He stepped out.
“Wait.” Kailey caught his sleeve lightly. “Can you think about it again p>
He let out a low laugh and took her hand instead. “It’s been a while since I came last time. Even if I don’t cancel anything, can’t I at least check on things p>
